Google Docs Resume Template
A clean, ATS-friendly resume layout you can drop into Google Docs in a minute — plus the settings that keep it parseable.
Use it in Google Docs in 4 steps
- 1Open a blank Google Doc at docs.new (or pick a resume from the Google Docs template gallery under File → New → From template gallery).
- 2Paste the plain-text layout below and replace the placeholders with your details.
- 3Keep it single-column with one font — skip the two-column gallery templates if ATS parsing matters.
- 4Download as PDF (File → Download → PDF) so your formatting stays put when you apply.

Frequently asked questions
Does Google Docs have free resume templates?
Yes — open Google Docs, go to File → New → From template gallery, and you'll find several resume layouts (Serif, Coral, Spearmint, Modern Writer). They're free, but some are two-column, which can confuse applicant tracking systems. The plain-text layout above is a safer, single-column starting point.
Are Google Docs resume templates ATS-friendly?
The simple single-column ones are. Avoid templates with sidebars, columns, tables, or icons — ATS parsers often read those out of order. Stick to one column, standard headings, and a common font.
Should I send my resume as a Google Doc or a PDF?
Download and send a PDF (File → Download → PDF) unless the application specifically asks for Word. A PDF preserves your layout; a shared Google Doc link can break or expose edit history.
